AQMD update re our local fires (5 p.m. Tuesday, 9/24) : "A brush fire, named the Madre Fire is burning in the Angeles National Forest above Azusa. It is estimated at 250 acres and 70 percent contained, as of 5 PM. Depending on conditions, smoke impacts from the Madre Fire are expected to be mainly in the immediate area around the fire. "A second fire, named the Sierra Fire, is burning in the San Bernardino National Forest near Lytle Creek. It is reported at 200 acres with no containment as of 5 PM.
