ARGHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!! I try to post this on every site I find listing an animal available "FOR FREE" but am posting it here as well and asking my friends to share if they see the need. Please, PLEASE, P L E A S E - NEVER list an animal as being FREE. Thank you. Kat. PLEASE READ THIS AND DON’T ‘GIVE’ ANIMALS AWAY FOR ‘FREE’ ON THIS OR ANY OTHER INTERNET SITE……. AND HERE IS WHY. Even in the Podunk town of Hillsboro and surrounding areas there are an unbelievable number of people who surf the web looking for ‘free’ animals. Rabbits, snakes, guinea pigs, hens and roosters, and especially dogs and cats, puppies and kittens. Why? For many reasons. Some to resell at a profit and they don’t care who they sell to. Some to use as bait to train or ‘blood’ their fighting dogs or fighting cocks. I do not lie when I say there are some who will use a litter of kittens or puppies to blood their fighting dogs so they “get to know and hunger for the taste of warm blood.” Yep, really. Some are still sold for medical or personal product testing. Some, reported as near as several neighboring counties, have been suspected of ‘sacrificing’ animals for ‘religious’ or dark/black magic rituals which have been reported to include skinning animals alive. And yes, I am telling you this to scare you. To scare you into NOT listing ANY animal for FREE on ANY SITE, ANYWHERE. Your option; list them ‘FOR SALE’. When these people surf for animals for their sick use they usually use the word ‘free’ as part of their search and don’t pay attention to those for sale. There are too many available for free to bother with paying for them. If you list them ‘for sale’ and then in the body of your information list a nominal fee ($25?) you will get responses from people interested in obtaining the animal for their family or farm for legitimate reasons. People who will usually treat them right and not injure, kill or resell them. As a part of the ‘for sale’ package, offer a bag of the food the animal is currently eating as part of the deal. It can help the animal transition over to a new food if they will be fed something different at their new home. Throw in their favorite bed or blanket or chew toy. Then, if the buyer comes to see the animal and you feel comfortable they are legitimate and will treat the dog or cat or other animal humanely and hopefully as part of the family, you can always ‘waive’ all or part of the ‘purchase’ price. Please help your animal stay safe. Please DO NOT OFFER HIM OR HER OR THEM FOR FREE. Thank you.
