ART | Been thinking about the age barrier for successful artists. It seems like the two professions that benefit through age and experience are business and politics. Those two professions often find people at their best when theyve accumulated life experiences and wisdom to lead and solve problems. But the arts and the artists seem to do their best work while young and then become increasingly irrelevant as they get older - oftentimes relying on their past successes to carry them through the rest of their lives. There seem to be very few artists that produce their best work after they are 50 or are in their 60s. Engineers and scientists seem to break through that age barrier alongside business leaders and politicians... but artists? Not so much. With that in mind, I started to brainstorm on possible artist role models that could be seen as doing relevant, interesting, their best work later in life and could only come up with a few: Johnny Cash, Martin Scorsese, Clint Eastwood, maybe Pablo Picasso, maybe Jackson Pollock, and Frank Lloyd Wright. Anyone else have any ideas on people that are artists that did their best work when they were older and considered past their prime (conventionally speaking)?
