ATTENTION: Alhaji Bukar Aji (Head of the Civil Service of the Federation) The news report that 1,050 employees of the Federal Government had falsified their ages to remain in the service is gross misconduct. It is disheartening that such dubious employees will just be merely retired, having been discovered to have committed the offence! There is negligence on the part of handlers of personnel records in the public service, if that number of workers will still be earning salaries and allowances, instead of pension over the years! There is need to sanction those who wilfully keep them on payroll illegally and also the culprits who falsified their records. The erring employees should be made to forfeit their entitlements and gratuities to the FG as deterrent to others yet to be discovered in the public service, at all levels. I know that at states and LGs, there are many of such fraudulent employees who keep changing their dates of birth and dates of employment in service. This impunity must stop in national interest!
