AUG 15-This Day in Beatles History: 1962-Pete Best played his last gig with the Beatles during a show at the Cavern club in Liverpool, England. Not long after, Best was fired and Ringo Starr was added to the group as the new Beatles drummer...1965-The Beatles played New Yorks Shea Stadium in front of an audience of 56,000. At the time. that crowd set a record for attendance at a rock concert. A record was also set by the gross ticket sales revenue, $304,000. That was a lot of money back then as tickets were only about 5 or 6 dollars. Unfortunately, between the screaming of the fans and a poor sound system, the Beatles were barely heard by anyone but themselves. Altogether, the Beatles played just 12 songs at their first Shea Stadium appearance, ending the show with Paul McCartneys wild lead vocal on Im Down...2007-Several solo John Lennon albums were made available to download on iTunes for the first time. A deal was approved by Lennons widow, Yoko Ono, following a lengthy legal battle between the bands label Apple Corps and Apple Inc, which owns iTunes...
