Aaaarrrgghh!! Ive posted similar before so I apologise in advance for repeating myself. Having just gotten off the phone from someone Ive not met to hear I have minor knee pain, my GP sent me for an MRI, why - it only hurts a little when I walk upstairs? As usual I asked a bucket load of questions (as yall know I do on the phone) and thats before our initial meeting & in less than 10 minutes found out more history. I completely understand the limited time frame we have when we visit our GPs & not being able to remember to tell them everything & in no way should this deter you from consulting your GP especially if/when pain is involved and youre unsure? However - its your body - your temple! Ask questions! AND ask for copies of imaging reports, blood tests etc. Keep your own file on YOU! Dont be scared to seek a 2nd opinion... If you are at all unsure - there are Physios, people like me/us who perform tests to determine or ascertain the need to refer on... Referring on is awesome & necessary!!! ONE of the questions that wasnt asked was do you suffer back pain?... nytimes/2011/10/29/health/mris-often-overused-often-mislead-doctors-warn.html?pagewanted=all&_r=0
