About 2 months ago we got a call from one of our previous adopters that a cat was hanging out around their business (which is out in the middle of nowhere) and that her belly looked distended and saggy. I went out and found this tiny little cat who immediately jumped in my lap and laid down for a nap. She was so sweet , so dirty and it was obvious she had given birth very recently. I went back to my car, hoping she would lead me to her babies, but instead she followed me to my car, scratching on the door for me to take her with me. Heartbreaking is an understatement. After a while she finally led me to a culvert under the road , far too tiny for me to crawl in... I couldnt hear babies but I knew they were there. Our adopter set out a box for her and one by one she brought her tiny DAY OLD babies out. Sugar and her babies, Windy and Snowflake are doing well in their foster home and will be looking for forever homes soon. The saddest part of the story is the fact that Sugar is estimated to be between 8-10 years old.. We cant imagine how many litters this poor girl has had and how long shes been living on her own, out in the cold. We are excited to finally be able to give her the love and care that she deserves.
