About myself: -40 year old, married father of two girls. -Lived in the Blue Sky area for over 2 decades. -Studied Small Business Management at Canadore College. -Retired from a sales and management career of 17 years to start and build my own businesses. -Moved to Callander in 2008 from North Bay to give my family a quieter community atmosphere we wanted but could not get in the Mckeown Ave. area of North Why do I want to represent you on Council? Offensive and Defensive financial Planning: To ensure the financial fitness of the municipality is healthy. Balanced yearly budgets, along with medium and long term savings for aging infrastructure investments will be my key focus. Essential Infrastructure investments: The current council has completed numerous projects that have added value to our community. The addition of the Splash pad, Outdoor fitness area, and the new Dock are welcome additions. However, moving forward existing essential infrastructure investments need councils attention more than cosmetic projects. Economic Drivers: Create open dialogue format with community businesses and help them grow. Callander has many tourism based and retail operations that are facing hard challenges. As a community we cannot stand by as these family owned, small and medium business struggle. All businesses will have a strong voice council ensuring their concerns are heard, and solutions offered. Social Responsibility: Provide means and assistance to existing social providers through community partnerships and involvement. As a small community we cannot disregard our own programs because our neighbouring municipalities offer it there. LETS MAKE CALLANDER GREAT! LETS KEEP CALLANDER AFFORDABLE!
