According to today’s Washington Post, the Saudi King says under Obama’s leadership, he “is convinced the U.S. is unreliable.” Saudi officials claim the point of view has been developing for two years. Three primary reasons contribute to the King’s lack of confidence in Obama, according to The Post. First, the king is angry that Obama chose to participate in the destabilization of Egypt, formerly the Arab World’s largest stable, economically prosperous, peaceful military giant. The Saudi government believes Obama should never have supported the Muslim Brotherhood over the long-time U.S. and Saudi ally, Hosni Mubarak. Second, the king thinks his opinions concerning regional politics are being constantly ignored by the Obama Administration. Obama’s Anti-Assad Syrian strategy is an example.
