Across the street from this hotel is a gem. No! You won’t believe it but it has the best lattes I’ve ever tasted and it’s a VERY old McDonalds! What a way to start the day! (Didn’t eat there though ...). I was then chauffeured to the Peterson Automotive Museum on Wilshire Boulevard where a couple of wonderful hours were spent drooling over some more stunning examples of kinetic sculpture masquerading as automobiles. Martyn certainly knows his way around Los Angeles! A long stroll through the famous Farmers Markets, Rodeo Drive et al followed before we dined at the famous DuPars Restaurant. Delightful! Another treat I was shown was the “Witches Cottage” in Beverley Hills. I told you it would be a hoot! This was followed by the most amazing site-seeing tour ever of a place few find in the hustle/bustle of Hollywood – the Westfield Village Memorial Park – a cemetery about half a block in size hidden behind some high rise buildings a few dozen steps through an alleyway, again off Wilshire Boulevard. This is where many Hollywood legends are interred like Marilyn Munroe, Dean Martin, Roger Dangerfield and their ilk. It is such a peaceful haven tucked in there between the trappings of city life and the surrounding rat race. I know it sounds strange but this was the highlight of the day thus far. Dinner later at ... well ... surprise me again, Martyn! (Later) ... and he did! A sumptuous meal in wonderful surroundings at The Dish, Montrose. Tomorrow begins the driving bit – heading East.
