Actually, it goes back to 1953, when the CIA overthrew Mossadegh in Iran. Then in 1963, we overthrew the government in Iraq, and for 40 years, considered Saddam Hussein a CIA asset. In 1979, under Jimmy Carter, the CIA concocted whats known as the Afghan Trap, luring the Soviets to invade in Afghanistan in order to give them their own Vietnam. Its so interesting to learn actual history, and compare it to the inaccuracies most of us were taught.
