Advantage Magnus Carlsen as Game 5 begins..... .... Kolkata: Two-and-a-half hours into Game 5 of the world chess championship match, Norwegian challenger Magnus Carlsen has an advantageous position, but it isn’t immediately clear whether his edge is substantial enough to be converted into a win, say experts. Scores are currently level at two points each. “Magnus will push (for win),” grandmaster Susan Polgar said in an entry on Twitter , looking at the current position in the game. World champion Viswanathan Anand, playing black in this game, will have to do some smart defending like he did on Wednesday. In that game, he was worse off, but managed to get away with a draw. “So confused by Anand’s play in the last two games,” Hikaru Nakamura , three-time US chess champion and one of the top-rated players in the world, said on Twitter. “He seems to drift, but then always find the best moves right when he is on the edge.” British grandmaster Nigel Short said on Twitter that he had discussed Carlsen’s opening moves with former world champion Garry Kasparov and that the Russian “didn’t seem overly impressed” with the challenger’s play on Friday. Evaluation by chess programs shows only a nominal advantage for Carlsen at this stage. “Vishy needs to be patient,” Polgar said. The 12-game world chess championship is being held in Chennai. The first four games ended in draws....
