Advice Issued For: Acheron, Alexandra Fire Origin: ACHERON AREA AND ALEXANDRA TOWNSHIP Incident Name: HOBANS ROAD/BREAKAWAY ROAD/ HALLS FLAT ROAD/ ACHERON AREA AND ALEXANDRA TOWNSHIP Issued: 16/12/14 10:14 PM This Advice message is being issued by Country Fire Authority and Department of Environment and Primary Industries for HOBANS ROAD, MOUNT PLEASANT ROAD, GOULBURN VALLEY HIGHWAY FROM STATION STREET TO THE DEVIATION, ACHERON AREA AND THE ALEXANDRA TOWNSHIP. Country Fire Authority and Department of Environment and Primary Industries firefighters efforts have been successful with no further fire spread. The fire is now Contained and there is control lines around the perimeter. The fire has burnt approximately 81 ha in size. No reported losses. There is currently no threat to communities, but you should continue to stay informed and monitor conditions. Smoke will be visible from nearby communities and roads with poor visibility in these areas. Motorists are advised to take caution as Emergency Services Vehicles will be active in these areas all night and Wednesday to maintain the current situation and strenghten control lines. HOBANS ROAD remains closed. ACHERON AREA residents should use the Maroondah Highway for alternative access and egress until further notice. HALLS FLAT ROAD restricted to local residents only at Southern End. The next update is expected by 17/12/14 12:00 PM or as the situation changes. Safety Information: Review your bushfire survival plan. If you do not have a plan, decide what you will do if the situation changes. If you have time check your neighbours to see if they are monitoring conditions. If you are experiencing smoke exposure, seek medical advice or call Nurse on Call on 1300 606 024. Stay Informed: Via emergency.vic.gov.au Tune to ABC Local Radio, commercial and designated community radio stations, or Sky News TV. Call the Victorian Bushfire Information Line (VBIL) on freecall 1800 240 667.
