Advice Issued For: Highlands Fire Origin: GHIN GHIN Incident Name: NEWELLS ROAD, GHIN GHIN Issued: 27/01/14 12:09 PM This Advice message is being issued by Country Fire Authority for Highlands Firefighters and aircraft have contained the fire in the GHIN GHIN and HIGHLANDS area in the Switzerland Ranges South of Mount Broughton. The fire has burnt approximately 24 hectares in size and firefighters will be continuing to black out the fire in this area. Residents and local communities should continue to stay informed and closely monitor the conditions over the next three (3) days. Motorists are advised to take extreme caution in this vicinity due to heavy activity of Emergency Service appliances and machinery. Whilst the fire is contained, smoke may still be visible from nearby communities and roads. The next update is expected by 27/01/14 1:00 PM or as the situation changes. Safety Information: Review your bushfire survival plan. If you do not have a plan, decide what you will do if the situation changes. If you have time check your neighbours to see if they are monitoring conditions. If you are experiencing smoke exposure, seek medical advice or call Nurse on Call on 1300 606 024. Stay Informed: Via cfa.vic.gov.au. Tune to ABC Local Radio, commercial and designated community radio stations, or Sky News TV. Call the Victorian Bushfire Information Line (VBIL) on freecall 1800 240 667.
