After 23 wonderful days of broadcasting live to Newbury and Thatcham, Kennet Radio is now closing down on 87.9FM. Its been a rollercoaster ride of amazing experiences, technical challenges, new discoveries, and above all friends new and old from all walks of life working together to bring truly local community radio to Newbury, Thatcham and the surrounding areas in West Berkshire. A huge thank you to everyone who has presented, recorded, interviewed, edited, installed, fixed, loaned, advertised, sponsored, volunteered and generally supported us in so many different ways - too many to name, but you know who you are and we are enormously grateful to each and every one of you. And of course to our listeners across Newbury and Thatcham - thank you for sharing the last 23 days with us. We hope weve been able to deliver the local community radio service you want and expect, and wed love to have your feedback so that next time we can do more of what we did right and improve the things that havent worked so well. So thats it on FM for now - but we will be back next spring with another 23-day broadcast, and we will be applying for a full-time licence when Ofcom opens applications in 2014. BUT KENNET RADIO CONTINUES ONLINE - you can listen to us on your PC or smartphone via kennetradio/play or via apps such as TuneIn and Reciva as well as on many WiFi radio. And if you have a passion for your community and an interest in radio you can join us - just go to kennetradio and click on get involved. There are so many things to do, aside from being in front of a microphone. We need technical experts in audio, web, and social media (we are trying hard to build our followship), researchers, news-gatherers, writers, help with OBs and promotional events, marketeers, fundraising, grant application writers, and more. So this is not the end, this is the end of the beginning for Kennet Radio. We are moving onward and upward - join us and be part of it!
