After 6 months of planning and working on logistics with the City of Encinitas, Mark Patterson and Robert Nichols have created the Surfing Madonna "Save The Ocean" 5K/10K Beach Run. Beach runs are very hard to get approved as you must get approval from the Coastal Commission and City. This is a very unique run because we will be donation all proceeds back into our communities. Our run will start on November 16th, 2013 at Moonlight Beach and go to Ponto for the 10K and Beacons for the 5K, aid stations, photographers for racers and shouts of encouragement from spectators will all be present at this challenging but fun course. We will give $8,000 in prize money to our top 5 male and top 5 female finishers. All participants will receive Surfing Madonna race t-shirts and our top 20 finishers in each age group will receive medals. Top finishers in each age division will receive special mosaic medals made by Mark Patterson. All of the proceeds (we hope to raise $200,000) that we earn will be donated back into Ocean, Beach and Park related projects voted on by registered participants and announced at our awards ceremony after the race. We will also be giving $20,000 in scholarships to students who want make a difference in our oceans through Marine Biology and Art. I hope to see you at this fun, exciting and challenging event register here surfingmadonnarun.org
