Thougs for the morning after following some very interesting discussions on fb. The First Amendment protects the freedom of speech but there are exceptions and it only applies to restrictions on speech imposed by the government. You cant get arrested, fined or convicted of a crime if you are legitimately exercising your right to free speech. You CAN, among a whole host of other civil penalties, get fired from your job, denied admission to private schools, clubs or other groups, and disrupt personal relationships by exercising your right to free speech. In exercising that right, you also exercise the right to face the civil and personal consequences of indiscriminate use of speech. Nothing, even speech, is truly free.
