After a rain delayed start it was all systems go with three courts operating to get through the second half of the round of 16 singles matches and the semi final doubles matches. Marcos Baghdatis took to Centre Court first up against Aussie qualifier Andrew Whittington. Whittington gave Marcos a run for his money and wasnt disgraced in his 5-7, 3-6 loss. Court 4 saw a tighter affair with 5th seed Aleksandr Nedovyesov just getting over German Tim Peutz in a third set tie breaker. On Court 6 the third seed Andrey Kuznetosov outplayed Wayne Odesnik to reach the singles quarter finals with a 6-1, 6-4 win. This match was followed by Aussie qualifier Andrew Harris who showed great form to beat Jurgen Zopp in straight sets 7-5, 6-3. Last up on Centre Court were crowd favourites Alex Bolt and Andrew Whittington up against Andre Ghem and Gerald Melzer. A game of two halves set up a super tie breaker for a spot in the doubles final on Sunday. In a tense finish, Bolt and Whittington were the victors 6-1, 2-6, 13-11. Join us tomorrow for singles quarter final games. Play will commence at 11am (weather permitting) with 4th seed Paul Henri Mathieu up against Aussie wild card Alex Bolt on Centre Court and Ryan Harrison up against Belgian qualifier Maxime Authom on Court 6. These matches will be followed by Marcos Baghdatis versus Aleksandr Nedovyesov from Kazakhstan on Centre Court and Aussie qualifier Andrew Harris up against Russian Andrey Kuznetsov the No. 3 seed on Court 6. Some great action to be had and some exciting match ups!! Dont miss out!!
