After anything happens there is a space... and in that space we choose whether we will REACT or RESPOND. Not long ago someone said something that triggered me and I was so mad... Part of me wanted to say something cutting and hurtful, part of me wanted to punch them... and what I decided to do was... just take a big deep breath. In the moment of that breath I realized this. - When emotions are high, logic is low. I cant think straight when my blood is boiling. Almost all decisions that I regret come from these times. - I cant choose how others act, or what they say, but I am always responsible for my own choices. I am fully accountable for my words and actions, and everything I do has a ripple effect on my future. Once a hurtful word comes out of my mouth, I cant get it back. - No one can hurt me unless I give them permission. Why would I do that? Thats crazy. I refuse to unconsciously give control of my life over to someone else. No one can make me feel anything - My decisions today are the seeds that I am planting for my future. Do I want to sow weeds or delicious fruit? I want a tasty future, rather than to eat weeds. - All my power lies in the thoughts between my ears. This is the source of the emotions I feel and the choices I make. The more conscious I am of the thoughts I have, the more power I have to consciously create my future. - This too shall pass... emotions are like storms that roll in and out. If I dont like the emotion, just wait, shift my thoughts and it will clear. - This other person is doing the best they can with where they are at... I can love and respect the divine within them, and still allow them to be human. Their actions and words are about them and not me. and ultimately I decided, to RESPOND and not REACT. We can stay in control of our lives, when we simply choose to HONOR THAT SPACE between stimulus and response. Be a Conscious Creator.
