After listening to the story of smoke the donkey and FNU, I feel - TopicsExpress

After listening to the story of smoke the donkey and FNU, I feel less bad about my own experience. I was also denied a student visa to come to study in the US despite the fact that I was one of the minority students that could finance my own MBA, that had more work experience under my belt and that had many chances to immigrate to the US but chose not to do so. I applied for my visa two times and was denied each time. Reason being that they were afraid that I will immigrate to the US (my family lived here), that I had travelled and worked in Colombia and that I was a chemical engineer (....some association with 9/11!!). Due to this issue and resulting delay, Wharton made a decision to move me to the class of following year. While I saw two old cab drivers in front of me get their visa approved at the US embassy in India, I returned home with a desire greater than ever to beat this immigration system. I had to write to the US President, Indian President, Indian foreign minister and call to the US senate-foreign policy. Finally 4 US senators had to get together to reverse the immigration decision for me. And that is how I finally got in the US. Everyone in the US knows how fu**ck&ed up immigration system is, but no one wants to change it. But I remain hopeful!
