After numerous robberies from local GAA grounds the Garda have sent out a few guidelines to help counter attack against local break-ins. Help prevent thefts from your cars at GAA club grounds by taking the following steps. Information for players and staff. • Handbags, wallets, cash and mobile phones are most at risk. • It’s your property don’t make it easy for the thieves. • Suggest to all players to avoid bring any valuables to training grounds at all. • Beware of strangers in GAA clubgrounds during training and particularly watching the activity of players. • Keep all cars as close to playing pitches as possible. • Always lock and secure your car. • Never leave your keys in car while unattended. • Signage is really important around car park area and dressing rooms. Make sure writing is big enough for everybody to see. • All club members in grounds to be vigilance and report any suspicious activity or cars coming into car park area during training. • Make contact with bus drivers who may stay in car park and advice them to contact a nominated person if they see any cars or persons acting suspicious. • Look at the possibility of having a small number of security lockers installed in the clubhouse dressing rooms. • Nominate one person to lock and secure dressing rooms during training or matches. • Please report any suspicious activity to the centre and nearest Garda Station (Navan, 046-9036100, Ashbourne 01-8010600, Kells 046-9280820, Trim 046-9481540.)
