I remember as a kid my teachers telling me WHEN YOU GROW UP AND CAN BE ANYTHING YOU WANT TO BE.. Honestly....I never really believe them one bit. Because when I left out of my door to go to school I couldnt see the dream. What I saw was drug dealing, shooting, stabbing, ni99as chillin on the block, gangbanging and just all around project-ness(yup I made a word up!)....I am blessed to have had a mother & father in my life that never let me do what I wanted to do...but MADE me do what I had to do or what they TOLD me to do. An although they did not parent me under the same roof they parented the hell out of Justin Dixon. I can only remember two friend in my PJs who parents were married and although I was never a straight knuckle head out here, I have done my fair share of sh!t I shouldnt have, lol....truth!.....but I am blessed to never have gotten arrested or sent to jail or prison for the mistakes I have made in life. Thank you for Mr. Bently, Mrs. Miller and Mrs. Ellis for honestly being the first black educators in my life that I respected, liked and loved....because if I wouldnt have seen those 3 positive black people in my eye sight, I just really dont know. I would like to personal thank Ms. Ellis for helping me achieve my college dreams and all the other things she did by just being real with me plus all the conversations we have had over the years. Also it was a joy to have finally cooked for you. To my Nephews & Nieces I know it is hard out here for you youngins and you see all the same things I did plus a lot more....but one thing you guys are seeing that means the world to me is a BLACK PRESIDENT. Understand this my peoples the USA was founded in 1776, I believe right?...and blacks have been here way before that and we didnt get the right to vote in our nation until the mid 1960s....you are finally getting to see a strong black man/husband and his wife at the head of the most powerful nation on earth. I got the chance to see and here him give a speech at CMU a couple years ago, that was a proud moment as a black man to me. Got a big laugh from seeing the first lady photo bomb and dunk on NBA players while a once skinny kid from Akron, OH held a kiddie rim.....yes I laughed hard, very hard. Cause after his time is up in office we may never get a chance to see Jay-Z, Snoop Dog, Beyonce or Stevie Wonder, Charlie Wilson, Aretha Franklin in the White House partying ever again. So with that being said.....you are witnessing something special my people......you can finally tell a lil BLACK boy & girl that THEY CAN BE ANYTHING THEY WANT TO BE WHEN THEY GROW UP and your not just saying words....your stating facts!!
