After reading the millionth stupid article and post.... I’m so glad that I have had the opportunity to have been involved in sports my whole life. From being a player, to coaching kids, to even watching for fun, it is one of my most favorite things! I’m fortunate to have had the opportunity to experience all the emotions that come with sports; winning, losing, being an underdog, and being a champion. I know what it’s like to blame myself and have someone blame me for a losing a game. I also know what it feels like to hit a game winning shot, to beat a rival on the road, to lose in a championship game and to let a rival beat us on our home court. Although most of my Auburn and Bama friends have been great sports, it still blows my mind to see people I know, retired athletes, non athletes, people who have no clue about sports (but were raised in a family who either yelled War Eagle or Roll Tide) and even complete strangers, get so upset and downright stupid over a ball game, especially a ball game that they had no part of besides wearing their team colors and screaming at the t.v. We are all fans, some more intense than others, some actual Alums of the schools, and others who have no connection and are just diehard fans. All which are great, but in the end, we are all “just fans”. I do believe fans play a part in ball games, they can either pump a team up or let them down, but in the end, they are the fans, not the players or the coaches. If you think YOU were emotional or upset after the game, imagine the players and coaches who actually played/coached in the game! So to both sides, stop with posting the articles, complaining about calls, making death threats, and rubbing it in the other teams face, it’s over. I’m all about being a fan and having fun, but there is a difference in “rivalry fun” and being craycray. That being said, congrats to both teams on AMAZING seasons and I hope both teams kick butt in whichever bowl game they get in! Unless of course by a miracle they play each other in the BCS, then War Eagle my friends! ;)
