After receiving a phone call this morning from Matthews - TopicsExpress

After receiving a phone call this morning from Matthews Oncologist, I now have a better understanding of what is really going on with him. After a great weekend celebrating Christmas with my folks we returned home last night. As soon as we walked in the door Matthew started to feel very ill. A few hours later he spiked a fever so Randy drove him to the ER since I had to work. He tested negative for the flu but rather had an infection. They gave him antibiotics because they were worried that the infection could spread to his port which leads to his heart. With the overflowing of the hospital right now due to all the illnesses they went ahead and sent him home. He is still running a fever of 100.7 and need us to monitor his fevers. If he is still running a fever 24 hours later of his antibiotic we have to take him into the ER again for another dose of antibiotics. At this point they do not know if his infection is viral or bacterial. I have one of my coworkers working for me tonight so I can be there for him all day and just in case I have to take him to the hospital tonight. Please continue to keep him in your thoughts and prayers and that his symptoms will be eased.
