After taking a look at the Smarter Balanced assessment for 4th grade, Im even more in the camp that every parent should opt their kid out. Its an assessment design that is so socially unjust and unfair for students of certain demographics, its unbelievable. Oh, and lets not forget that for kids in higher socio-economic demographics it is still completely developmentally inappropriate. Its a design thats set up to fail our schools and our students. It also costs more. Why are we doing this?????
