After the 1st seven episodes of SNL this season, here are my top 5 takeaways for any who care to read. 1. Of all new cast members, Beck Bennett has stood out the most so far, similarly to Will Ferrell in 95 after another large cast turnover. 2. Seth Meyers - Cecily Strong update duo is OK. Id still prefer them going back to one standup comic at the desk like it was from Miller-Nealon-Norm-Quinn. I wonder what Brooks Wheelan could do in that spot. 3. The writing is as strong as ever. 4. The shorts from the Good Neighbor guys are OK, but not good. But the first Lonely Island digital shorts were not received well either until Lazy Sunday. 5. Aidy Bryant, who was by far the worst cast member on the show last year, had done a 180 this season, although she needs to stop smiling in every sketch.
