After yet another distressed bride contacted me about her DJ - TopicsExpress

After yet another distressed bride contacted me about her DJ bailing on her... Its time to re-visit some good pointers for hiring a legit DJ... Tip #1 - NEVER hire the family friend or the guy you went to college with. They may offer you a great price, but these are always the ones who either bail last minute, or show up and just plain suck. These people dont care about your event, they are doing it as a favor or because they feel bad. Hire someone who will be professional and take your event seriously. Low price tends to lead to low expectations and results. Tip #2 - NEVER hire the DJ who only promotes themselves based on their speakers and light show. ANYONE can buy lights. Anyone can buy speakers. Equipment does not make a good DJ. Beware the fake taglines like best sound or biggest light show. Its usually a front for a DJ who isnt good on the Mic or any good in general, so they make up for it by blasting the crowd with way too many speakers and blinding them with way too many lights. Is this a wedding or a rave? Lastly, hire an experienced DJ who has references, reviews, videos of previous events, Etc. Especially of their Mic work. If you dont see anything like this on their page or website, it means most likely they arent serious about what they do. You dont need the hobby DJ responsible for the entertainment on one of the biggest days of your life. Just some thoughts. If you have more suggestions, leave them in the comments below. Thank you all for continuing to support what I do, and sending me leads. I appreciate it!
