Agreed. Under whichever God you prefer, if any. But then....it does have just a little hint of cult behavior. A daily recited promise to defend a government (the republic) without a second thought is a big red flag against those who believe in free thinking, freedom of expression and for those who know it is becoming a world where it is not this nation against that. It is slowly becoming a global presence with nationalism and religions being used to incite unrest and obtain unethical control. Global responsibility and collaboration is imperative or the alternative is mutually assured destruction. Be careful what we teach our children. Realize that all traditions have a reason for starting at that time in history; also realize that times are changing, often more quickly than we realize. Question everything, reject those things which no longer have relevance. Indivisible, liberty and justice are still very relevant and if the flag stands for these, then I still agree. But to support a government that has become way too big and technically advanced for its own citizens to question or replace by force if necessary, puts us in a very precarious place. We have arrived at a natural evolution of the way the founding fathers set up the government. In the 1700s very, very few people understood finance or even accounting on a larger scale. It was thought at the time that it was wise for wealthy businessmen to have a large degree of control in certain ways. It led to huge industrial booms and eventually widespread wealth (after the unions busted the compensation polarity). Well, the existing laws and procedures over the last two or three generations have once again led to a gaping difference in wealth, only this time we have HUGE government programs to support the poor. If the poor can survive, what do they care if they are now living in a socialist economy? There wont be any union violence either. It may prove that the internet may have a leveling effect. Social networks can do amazing things, like inform people of which businesses are employing people under stakeholder theory (or at least paying highly because of it), and inform people of what their government is doing on the other side of the world. The battle between good and bad does exist. If you are harming others, keeping secrets, telling lies, consider that you have a choice not to do these things.
