Air Jordans… by far the hottest basketball shoe on the market. It seemed that everyone and their brother had them growing up. Just about everyone of my friends or males in my school in general… especially if they were as into basketball as I was. As much as I loved the game, and aspired to be Michael Jordan as every young kid did, I was not as fortunate as some of my peers. Mom normally worked either double shifts, 2 jobs, or even 3… Most of my friends didn’t realize.. but a lot of meals were PB&J or cereal. Baths were made from heated water on the stove, and homework was sometimes done by candle light. It was a struggle being a single Mom fighting through a series of bad relationships, dead end jobs, and two growing boys. Needless to say, she was never able to get me a pair of Jordan’s and although I saw some of my friends get a new pair every time they came out, I would never even dare ask because I knew she did the best she could to get me the Nike’s or Reebok I was wearing, which were expensive enough. But hey, thats life- some people have it better, some have it way worse, and we continue to make it by; each sunrise bringing more success with the work ethic and faith that was instilled in me. As most of you know, I have successfully started an Entertainment/DJ business and I am continually seeing growth and promise. Last year, at age 25, I bought the pair of Jordan’s that you see in that picture… My first pair of Jordan’s. I am not ashamed to say that I walked out of the store, got in my car, opened the box and started crying. To finally be able to have a pair of these meant so much more than jumping higher, shooting better or running faster as I originally thought they would do as a kid, they made me humble, appreciative and the natural high was beyond belief. I’m not even close to where I want to be, but I owe a lot of my current success to friends, family, fans or followers that come dance for me, faith in God and myself. However, there is no love like a Mother’s love; therefore, there was no greater push than her.
