Alaska Tidbit of the Day: I went through forty years of my life - TopicsExpress

Alaska Tidbit of the Day: I went through forty years of my life without ever knowingly experiencing seismic activity. Then I felt two tremors within an eight-hour span. They were just tiny, everything was fine. The first was 8 or 8:30 pm Alaska time. My department had a picnic at a park. Because I have vertigo, I thought that I had a little spell for a couple of seconds. Then other, more experienced people said wed just had a tremor. I felt another one about 4:30 am. (I was already awake; Im happy and excited here all the time and its harder for me to sleep when Im happy and excited.) I was in bed at the time, though. Again, this was just for a second or so. Thanks to my geology class last fall, I know that youre better off having little tremors every now and then than to have occasional huge earthquakes, because the little tremors help to release the seismic energy rather than have it build up.
