All this arguing over the minimum wage increase has got my head spinning.. People need to understand that it isnt for the benefit of the burger-flipping teenagers living with their parents with no bills to pay. Its to try to solve the problem of people who cant afford to live without the assistance of somebody else, be it family or even the government. Especially those taking care of a child or children. Minimum wage jobs may require minimum experience and requirements, but some people have no choice. They also arent always the easiest jobs like some people are trying to imply. It really discourages my faith in humanity to see people so greedy and not care about their neighbours. It shouldnt be about how much more you make compared to the next person. It should be about making sure the person next to you can get by. The retiree that needs a job because their pension isnt enough or the single mother working two full time jobs to get by shouldnt have to suffer just because you think you are more entitled. You may have worked hard to get where you are now - but shit happens. Some people dont get the same opportunities you do and that doesnt mean they should be punished. I dont believe that raising the minimum wage will solve the problem with the rising cost of living for very long, as its an ongoing cycle and it will keep going up, regardless. I just think its sick to see so many people so quick to judge and criticize. Think about if it were your own mother, or grandparent, or brother or sister with a mountain of student loans. Put yourself in somebody elses shoes for once. Love your friends and neighbours people. Stop the selfishness.
