Allah says: “So, when they forgot (the warning) with which they had been reminded, We opened to them the gates of every (pleasant) thing, until in the midst of their enjoyment in that which they were given, all of a sudden, We took them to punishment, and lo! They were plunged into destruction with deep regrets and sorrows.” This is one of the most frightening verses in the Quran. The punishment of forgetting Allah’s warnings is favors and blessings from Allah! Allah will open the gates of everything that pleases you. Once you are in the midst of your enjoyment, the punishment of Allah comes and there is no escape from it. When USA and European countries think that they have it made, this means that the wrath of Allah is at their doorsteps! Arabs think that Allah gave them oil because He loves them. They are distancing themselves from real Islam and nothing can save them from the punishment of Allah. So many of us are pleased with Allah’s gifts, not knowing what awaits them. The Prophet salla Allahu alaihi wa sallam said: when you see Allah giving favors and provisions to an individual while he is still sinning, Allah is pulling his legs! Therefore, be careful and watch your steps. You may be walking into a trap while blinded by the favors of Allah and by your own sins! -Sh.Assim Al Hakeem.
