Allow me to explain something to you city people who are upset about the cougar that was shot. A cougar is a large cat that is nothing more than a killing machine, much like your house cat, it does and will kill things smaller than itself; things such as your beloved pet dog or, God forbid, a child. And no the cat couldnt have been tranquilized and relocated. Firstly, am agitated animal that is shit with a tranquilizer dart will likely become more agitated before the tranquilizer takes effect and thus may attack. Secondly, cougars have a range, apparently the South Campus was within this cats range, if the cat is relocated it will return to its range. You give the problem to some other person for a short period of time until the cat returns. So in the interest of public safety, and the safety of your precious barking slipper, the cat is best dead.
