Alright. Heres my take/solution on the 2stock 3 stock debate. Just got the approval from Tyrell and a few others so... let me know what you think. Ill try to keep this short and sweet. So Im thinking that if there arent pools before hand, the bracket should be 2 stocks until we get to winners Semi Finals. Then it changes to 3 stock. Here is my reasoning: 1. The 3rd stock is pivotal to people who can take advantage of that third stock. For example, if Nairo is playing against a new player or a low level player, its highly unlikely that the opponent will need the 3rd stock to bring it back, because they dont know how to adapt, they dont know how to read or punish properly, they lack the basic fundamentals to win. And if you feel like this is shooing away low level players then I guess I would have to say that youre kind of right. Much like Pools shoos away low level players, as will this. If youre worth your salt then you will just rise up through these 2 stock games. 2. Much like we change set counts at winner/losers finals (sometimes even semis) I dont see why changing stocks is bad. That way we have a Tier of events. bottom of the pyramid are the 2 stock matches, middle being the 3 stock 2/3 sets, then top tier are the 3 stock 3/5 matches. Why is that important? Well... 3. Im hearing, The people want 2 stocks! Short attention spans really kill viewership! The players want 3 stocks! We as players want longer to learn and adapt! Well this covers both bases. The people that have short attention spans most often just dont want to bother watching players that arent playing for anything important, like placements or money. People would probably love to see a 3 stock match between Esam and Mr R than Tyrant and Nessmaster12. And to the people that argue 3 stocks for the players well if you want that privilege to have that third stock then earn it. If you want that same privilege to have that extra game, make it to winners finals. In short, I think this is the best of both worlds. This will make tournaments run faster as we speed through the lower part of the bracket, and it will bring attention and a lot of focus to higher tier matches. Im welcome to any and all critiques on this, so please, have at it.
