Alright boys, In an attempt to make our page a little something else, Im suggesting we each take a day of the week to post a music video (seven dudes, seven days a week.) This is not a list of potential covers, and it doesnt have to be anything like our style. It just needs to be music that most of us probably havent heard, need to hear again, or else is just a great performance. Maybe we can open a dialog with our friends in the music community. Im (Kale, whom am I, am) taking Tuesday, for it are that day this day, and here I be at it. Its my party by Lesley Gore: Heres what I have to say about this song. Vivi got a girl groups of the sixties cd in her stocking this year and we have spinning it almost constantly since then in the car. Most of the songs are saved by the honey-ass harmonies but the themes are unfortunately primarily about pleasing your dude at any cost, which is total B.S. but era appropriate I guess. There are two songs, however, that have risen to the top. Im not going to tell you my favorite yet, but this one I feel I should defend because it surprised me that I dug it as much as I did. Youve heard it, many times, probably mostly in soundtracks, and it could be terribly annoying if it didnt have pitch perfect lyrics. But believe me when I tell you, This song is great. Four lines at a time, each one more poignant and compelling than the last, I almost cant believe how good and easy it is with that kind of economy. Then theres this HOOK that is so catchy I almost want to hate it again. Maybe 40 words in the whole thing. One theme. Explored thoroughly. Assessable. Catchy. Thats how you do it.
