Alright folks, I posted about this roughly a month ago and I promised that I would follow up each month until Christmas so here goes: A lot of you know that I spent a lot of time as an orphan. I was adopted by a great family that ultimately returned me to the custody of the state at around age 16 due to a lot of reasons, none of which I could control. One of the hardest things about not having a family during the holiday season was knowing that you were going to be alone and forgotten on Christmas Morning. Sure the staff cared but ultimately they are paid to. Jeff McIntosh might disagree with that statement but its how I felt as a child of the system. At any rate, every year since I moved out on my own I have gathered Christmas Presents and found a local group home or two that can give them out for me to kids who have no one else. I try to be a bit more personable than having gifts marked boy girl and I never really meet the kids that get the gifts due to confidentiality concerns. What I have done previously is gather toys and drop them off. This year I am going to do the same thing but I want to add something. I will be calling local group homes and placements and asking the staff to help the kids make Christmas lists. I will be shopping from those lists as much as possible with any extra donations being used for random presents to be given at the discretion of the staff. Normally this is something that my wife and I do on our own, but last year I reached out to the community and had a few people interested in helping me with my Orphan Santa project. If you are interested in helping me you can do so a few ways: Donate funds into my corporate PayPal account: marcus.morris@guardianauttie Mail gift cards to local stores to me, I.E. Wal-Mart, Target, Toys R Us. Send toys to me directly: Guardian Transition Services C/O Marcus Morris 847 S. Heights Lane Billings, Mt. 59105 OR... just find a local group home or institution and do the same thing on your own in your local area! ireport.cnn/docs/DOC-861629
