Alright, heres something a little different. Admittedly, I was not a fan of Paul Walker as an actor. I never watched any of the Fast & Furious movies and wasnt particularly moved by his acting in the few films of his I did see. When he died, I felt sympathy for his family and a reaffirmation of the truth that none of us are guaranteed a single additional minute of life - no matter who we are. However. I felt sickened by a lot of the crap I saw posted after his death. Plenty of people posted honest and heartfelt dedications to his memory, but plenty of others cracked jokes and behaved as if the man himself was a public commodity - as if, because he was famous, he somehow belonged to the general populace & anything that could be said about him was fair game. For some reason, it seemed that people felt they could be as classless, tasteless, and unloving as they wished, ignoring any sense of propriety or sensible boundaries with the tripe they were posting. Look, people: Paul Walker was a real human being. Just like the rest of us. His fame and his wealth didnt change that. This notion that celebrity status somehow allows for open season on people for whatever the public wants to besiege them with is a crock. This should not be. Dont let any notion of celebrity cause you to forget that people are people, regardless of whether or not theyre rich, famous, on TV, in movies, up on stage, or whatever else. They lead real lives, they need love, they succeed and they fail, they live and they die. Theres no reason to treat them any different. Or, at least, any different than you want to be treated yourself. Let love be genuine; hate what is evil, hold fast to what is good, - Romans 12:9
