An Evenings Reflection On The Word Flollop. I made up the word - TopicsExpress

An Evenings Reflection On The Word Flollop. I made up the word flollop years ago when watching our senior Cocker Spaniel attempting to romp in the yard. Her shaggy coat, long ears, and silly grin, combined with her awkward movements, just could not be accurately described by any word I knew of in the English language. Her particular sort of rambling, floppy, loping, shaky gait made me feel sad and giggly all at the same time. Today, watching Heidi flollop about in the grass, attempting to entice Alex Kitty into play (an unsuccessful attempt, although he was gentle, and didnt use his claws when he popped her nose), I was reminded once more of Mariahs antics. Heidis rear end seemed almost completely disconnected from her front end, and at times her frustration at being unable to completely control her own body was clear; at one point she even plopped down, looked at her own rump, and voiced a sharp huurrURR! puppy growl of annoyance. Then she promptly forgot about her aggravation and was off again, flolloping her way over to the potted ivy to bat at the hanging vines. Alex followed, evidently as fascinated by Heidi as she was with him. They stalked one another around the large pot for a few moments, until Heidi lost interest and bellied down in the cool grass, hind feet stretched out behind her pudgy little rump, tail wagging furiously, and teeth and front paws busily engaged in subduing a vicious and deadly stick. Alex sat motionless, tail curled neatly about his feet, and his head cocked slightly to the left as he considered this small, strange, and heedless creature, who had so bravely invaded his domain. Heidi continued to chew her stick in blissful ignorance of his regard as I giggled quietly from my rocking chair. Eventually, stick subjugation palled as a source of amusement, and a nearby leaf rapidly fell prey to the remorseless little huntress. Alex, apparently nonplussed by Heidis continued disregard, gave a disgruntled sneeze and leapt up onto a table nearby to munch on a bit of cat food. Noticing that the evening was wearing on, and the light beginning to fade, I scooped up my little miss and headed for the barn to feed the horses. Heidi nibbled my chin in greeting, then relaxed into the curve of my arm for the ride, ready for her next adventure.
