An Open Letter To Jim Giguere - TopicsExpress

An Open Letter To Jim Giguere Dear Jim, Congratulations on your recent appointment to the post of Activities Director. It has often been said that the Activities Director has more responsibility toward operations of the club than any other officer. And, when you think of it, it is probably true. The Activities Director is responsible for all ski shows, ski outings, parties, meeting programs and trips to mention just a few. True, all of these activities will be held with or without your help, but if you choose not to give them your enthusiastic support they will be mediocre successes at the very best. It has been borne out in the past that the success of any activity directly parallels the attitude of the Activities Director,if he pursues it vigorously. If he views it with indifference, so will everyone else. I do not mean to imply that the burden of entertaining rests upon your shoulders. Far from it, SLSC members are famous for pitching in whenever there is a job to be done. But they will act only at your direction and only with whatever enthusiasm you can generate. In short the fun of being in Silver Lake Ski Club next year lies pretty directly in your hands. And i for one am very comforted by that fact. I feel that there is no one better qualified for this job. Your years of experience as a club leader coupled with your natural ability to stimulate enthusiasm should prove to be a winning combination. As a three year veteran of the post my advise to you is to plan early, keep the membership informed, directly assign responsibility to individuals, and keep tabs on everything. I hope you will recognise the power of the press and use this publication as an instrument for conveying information. And, speaking for the entire membership, were ready to make 1967 the most memorable year in the clubs history. Just tell us what we have to do. Sincerely, J. D Hosner, Editor
