An Opinion. By Emmanuel Mwamba DIRTY CAMPAIGNS, SCARE TACTICS,LIES? THIS DOESNT WORK (CASE OF JACOB ZUMA AND MICHAEL SATA) GO TO SLEEP KNOWING IT IS WELL Someone today asked me that we should respond to the lies and malicious attacks from an online newspaper on the false allegations impugning on the health of PF President Edgar Chagwa Lungu. Another one even said (and forwarde material) we should attack the UPND and haul the dirt of Hakainde Hichilema from his confirmed beliefs, to his business practices (our people feel the attacks from the online paper are meant to benefit Hichilema while harming his opponents). My views were that there was no need to dignify such lies with a response. For why discuss the health of a healthy candidate? And why practice the verybdirty tactics that the voter is condemning? Didnt we learn anything from the first elections of Jacob Zuma and Michael Sata that negative reports infact do achieve the opposite? Thst negative reportd only make the voter rally behind the unfairly treated? On Christmas Day, Edgar Lungu was with his family and later attended the wedding of Yvette Musonda Sata. But remember their false speculation? We showed pictures from a wedding ceremony. On Boxing day as shown by pictures earlier on this page Hon. Lungu spent time in Chongwe area and took time to meet Chiefs. But remember their speculation? So todays lies are no exception. Opinion Polls privately commissioned for the mines and undertaken by a renowned private international firm continues to show that the PF Candidate Edgar Lungu is soaring and will likely win the January 20th 2015 presidential by-election. The UPND leadership are aware of this. The Post yesterday stated similarly that the chances of Edgar Lungu winning are without dispute very high. The paper also took time to counsel the UPND not be taken away by little bumps of support the party gets occassionally. Western Banks with a strong presence in South Africa, Nigeria, Botswana have also commissioned scientific opinions whose results are all similar. Lungus public rally turnout are much higher than any candidate out there. The PF’s stronghold is in Lusaka, Copperbelt, Luapula and Northern provinces. Mandevu (Lusaka) and Malole (NP) Constituencies alone command a voter population higher than certain provinces. The massive infrastructural development undertaken by President Michael Sata which has benefited the party and Lungu will also attract good rural votes. When reputable firms and opinions predict a win for Lungu, its true that he is likely to be Republican President in the next 20 days. And when there are confirmed reports that over 107 MPS are supporting Edgar Lungu and former President Rupiah Banda will probably help deliver good reasons for a victory lap, the enmy panics. Therefore in the next 20 days we will see reports of lies based on malice and culumny against the front runner. Edgar Lungu is clearly well and headed for the Presidency. He has overcome so much thrown at him just the last few months that a set of reported lies can not scuttle his chances. Destiny. And well wishes from our founder President Dr. Kenneth Kaunda to our candidate are always welcome So lets do the roll call. Who has the support of: 1. The Acting President 2. Dr. Kenneth Kaunda 3 President Rupiah Banda 4. 107 MPS 5. Ministers 6 His Central Committee 7 most importantly the voters and Zambians. Its Edgar Chagwa Lungu. There you are. So the bigger the lies you read, tells you of the low level of desperation that has gripped the camp and their fear to accept the inevitable. The Electoral Commission of Zambia has announced a voter verification exercise beginning Monday 29th December 2014. Please take time to verify your names and for those that lost their cards please go and collect a new one. For that is the only way your choice will be protected. And not the lies, innuendos, malice and evil attacks that will be unleashed in the next few days.
