An article that jumps into FIXING education. Im going to say this one last time because I know, who am I, right? Stop talking about meritorious pay and big bad Teacher unions. IF you want fair and equitable schools in the United States, especially in impoverished areas, fixing the schools is like Step 6 in the grand scheme of things. What I mean is that if I were to explain how to make a peanut butter and jelly sandwich and started my steps with, and now youre ready to eat your peanut butter and jelly sandwich, youd think I didnt know the first (or fifth) thing about PB&J sandwiches. What about meritorious schooling for impoverished areas in regards to incentives for PARENTS.? (But thats not faiiiiir Chris). Well, neither is telling a teacher that a kid that barely eats, lives in squalid conditions, is surrounded by quick money and may have never been read to as a child or traveled much more than 25 miles outside of where they grew up, that they should do a better job. Change the landscape by changing the horizon and tomorrows dawn will never look the same. No matter how brilliant the painter, no amount of paint or brushstrokes will ever hide a torn canvas. Fix the canvas, THEN focus on the painter.
