An deireadh seachtaine thart arís. An enjoyable weekend, topped off by a great Barrs win v a gallant Passage side in the Junior City Championship. They will be back, and well done to Passage on a great year. Will be heading in the morning to a meeting of the Southern Division of Cork County Council, and one of my colleagues at that meeting, Cllr Des OGrady (pictured), will have been similarly delighted by that win. The Councillor for Blarney-Macroom doesnt like talking about it too much but was by all accounts a very accomplished footballer in his day, and Id guess the only Cork County Councillor with an All Ireland Club Medal! A very youthful Des can be spotted here in this team picture second from the right in the front row with the team that won the County in 79, 80, and the All Ireland Club in 80, which they would go on to win it again in 81. If he gave the fellas he was marking anywhere near as hard a time as he gives the Government Councillors, he will have been hard to live with!
