An excellent review for This Is Home came in from Relix Magazine today. Im honored to have any comparisons made between me and the women mentioned below. Its easy to become jaded about Americana since so few self-proclaimed artists of that genre have the mix of indie blues twang perfected. A guitar, a microphone and storytelling chops does not make a woman Lucinda Williams, Kim Richey or Patty Griffin. Perhaps its the influx of artists waving the Americana flag that makes Amy Blacks new album This is Home so welcome. The 14 tracks on the album move from blues rockers such as Stronger, Carter family country including Alabama, and steel guitar infused These Walls are Falling Down. Although she has her own distinct style, its no surprise to discover that Bonnie Raitt heavily influenced Black. The country-blues rocker Laying It Down, could almost be an outtake from Raitts work. Blacks shop-worn vocals, intricate arrangements and soulful instrumentation make her an artist well worth watching.-- Nancy Dunham
