I do take offense to his views on my religion but Ill never convince him of my views and its doubtful that he will ever convince me of his, so Ill agree to disagree there. In this case, Im on the side of Rula and the Muslims. I know very little about Islam but I do know that that they are not all good or all bad and that to paint them with one brush is the same prejudice that Maher condemns. I flew to Australia on 9/11/14. In the terminal, boarding the plane an announcement came on announcing that the terror alert had been raised to the highest level in Australia since the original 9/11 due to terrorist activities in that country. Very comforting things to think about on a 16 hour flight...to Australia. I took my window seat and who sits next to me? A middle eastern guy reading the Koran in Arabic on an iPad. Swell. After several uncomfortable hours we struck up a conversation. We liked some of the same music and movies. He was from Wisconsin born and raised & his accent was like a cheesehead not an Arab. His parents and children and parents lived with him and he loved them. He ran an organic snack food company and he had the same American dream that most of us have. By the time we landed we traded business cards. I dont believe that this guy practiced a religion of hate. I dont think that he has the same beliefs as an Islamic Terrorist. We have to be very careful, err on the side of caution, be vigilant, etc. but to hate all Muslims is exactly what Bin Laden and ISIS want us to do. Jerry Wilson Mark Pfaff ?
