An open line of questions, (food for thought) and I know that some of you (i love you!) are officers of the law: Why are we training our police officers to fight and kill terrorists, and arming them to do so? Why are police using that anti-terrorism weaponry and training on American civilians? Why are more than 2 million Americans incarcerated? Why do we incarcerate so many more minority folks than white folks? Why do peaceful people get teargassed? Why do we see videos of police officers threatening to kill civilians? Why do we see videos of police officers shooting people and driving tanks and choking people to death? What happens to the police officers who accidentally incarcerate innocent people? What about accidents or misunderstandings that cost people their time, their jobs, their families, and sometimes even their beating hearts... What happens then? Does anyone see justice? Was it all just a bad day? Do we keep doing it this way? Im asking with an open heart and a desire to see something better. And these questions cant be answered by blowing them off, either. The fact that its so difficult and dangerous to be a cop, the sacrifices that are made, and all the good things that are done... those facts dont negate these questions. Im thinking of my friends that are in the National Guard, police officers, military men and women and families. How do you feel about the government potentially sending you to your own neighborhoods to dispel civil unrest? To teargas the passionate college kids and stuff? Im unabashedly curious, please dont hold it against me... xoxox
