An unusually high amount of traffic to many Government sites was observed on Nov 5. This was indicative of attempts to scan for vulnerabilities or potential of a distributed denial of service (DDoS) attack, the Infocomm Development Authority (IDA) revealed in a press conference on Friday afternoon. Probably, their attempts to launch DDoS attacks failed, and thus targetted a vulnerability in the Google search bar within the sites to show that they indeed hacked and kept their word. This also means that accusations that DDoS attacks had been launched on Nov. 2 causing many Gov. websites to be down, are false as the hackers do not have the capabilities yet, but hey may continue to look for vulnerabilities and try to launch more of these attacks. straitstimes/breaking-news/singapore/story/ida-government-websites-faced-attempted-cyber-attacks-day-planned-prot
