An update following the drama and devastation that was caused at Angel Hope by the rain some weeks ago. The money donated has been used to buy dog kennels of varying sizes and we had many donations of bedding etc., to go with these We have also been donated a substantial consignment of tools and money to buy supplies to help the rebuild and alterations needed To this I have to add that Steve and Dawn are the only 2 people working at Angel Hope, even when the number of dogs was pretty close to 200, they did it all by themselves. Managing the dogs, feeding, cleaning, watering, airport and vet runs, maintenance and house keeping.... Can anyone imagine that?? Anyone at all? With nearly 200 free roaming dogs? We have all worked so hard to reduce the number of dogs and it was at such a dangerous level that, in the early summer, we had to close the gates of Angel Hope to all but life and death cases. Now Steve has another challenge that he is managing by himself.....rebuilding, repairing, and improving Angel Hope following the rains that came so suddenly and with such devastation.... He is one man with a mountain the climb, Dawn is helping by managing the dogs, the housekeeping, feeding etc., and also by looking after her fella. Since closing the gates we have had 1 dog left tied to the gate (now rehomed), 1 dog came trotting over the mountain (emaciated and ill) Fuji, who is still at AH but has had another episode of illness, and 4 assorted young dogs. Until Steve has had time to make good the repairs etc., then we simply cannot take any more dogs. Dawn has enough on her plate managing what is there. There are no helpers to come in, there is no-one to give Dawn and Steve time off. Christmas Day and the festive season will be the same old same old for them both.
