An update from Cindy... Hi Everyone, Thank you for the well wishes, they are very much appreciated and make me feel good. I had surgery on my heel last week and now home. This morning Cole (Johns son) took me through my work out it consists of trying to make me breath deep...not a fun thing if you have even one broken rib (I have multiple). I did much better, they are HEALING. Can you believe it? Its true they are actually getting better. I do very simple things like wiggle the toes on your left (damaged) foot. I have this huge cast/ splint on the foot but I can see the tip of my big toe. He peered over it, mind you it looks really bad post the first surgery. It had a fracture blister under the nail that pushed the nail to an unpleasant angle and color. There was a pin (turkey needle if you ask me) I could never really see it but had a bad idea about it when Id watch the faces of friends and family as and after they looked at it. So much so, I dreamed quite often that when I woke from the heel surgery they would tell me it had to be amputated. (remember I can get quite an imagination going). Well, Dr. Morshed just took off the nail and cleaned it up. Cole started me on my toe exercises and his face lit up like crazy and he started almost screaming the second toe is alive its moving!!!!! Jumping up and down...so I guess I wasnt the only one that thought that toe was a goner! My coordination is a lot better...I actually made a toss to the trash bin from 2 feet and it went in! I do have to get walking, John talked to someone recovering from this same heel surgery, three years and he hasnt hiked yet- although he has skied. Well Lucy (my loyal dog) wont leave my side and she isnt getting her exercise. Yesterday I filled a wine bucket with tennis balls and from the top of the deck thru the balls into the pool 2 at a time. She can get 2 in her mouth...her idea of fetching includes diving into the pool with the biggest grin on her face getting both balls and coming out of the pool to then hide the balls in the flower garden and stare at you to toss more. xoxo Cindy
