The Constitution is a limitation upon the governance by the - TopicsExpress

The Constitution is a limitation upon the governance by the people. It is not a limitation of the rights of private individuals. The Bill of Rights is a guarantee of certain rights. It is not a prohibition of other rights. Neither of these documents gives power to the Government. They give responsibilities to the Government. Neither the Constitution nor the Bill of Rights are a charter of absolute authority granted to the Government to control the people. These documents are intended for precisely the opposite. To give absolute authority over the government to the people. If you believe otherwise, you are a Statist, a communist, a socialist. You are not an American.
