And about the Excel Centre: it isnt just big,..its BIG. And this is a BIG convention...not San Diego Comic Con BIG, but pretty honkin BIG. I know that some people have had an adverse reaction to it, and talked about it here on Facebook and elsewhere. Id like to ask the LonCon3 people who have worked their asses off---and are still working their asses off this weekend---not to take these reactions personally. Thats how those people feel. Its not your fault. Sh!t happens. Some people really cant handle crowds. Others who have always done okay in a crowded city suddenly find themselves overwhelmed and physically ill. If they express their feelings, theyre not really saying you did a rotten job,. Dear LonCon3 committee and staff, youve probably already received a fair amount of criticism for this or that or the other thing, for decisions you made or for results you didnt foresee. Congratulations---its a worldcon! And the day after tomorrow, it will be over and attendees will be on to their next life event. The sad truth is, as with any other endeavour, youre not going to hear from everyone who appreciates your efforts. Nobody says anything if everythings okay. So remember: for ever 10 complaints, there are 100 things that went so well, nobody mentioned them.
